Peace Corps Volunteers Evacuated Globally - Resources & How to Help

Querido/a PCPF members,

It is with a heavy heart that we learned on Sunday that all PCVs globally will be evacuated from their posts due to the on-going COVID-19 emergency. We recognize that this will be an exceedingly difficult time for all volunteers being evacuated, our staff in Panama, country staff in offices globally, and here in the US. We hope that everyone is able to get home safely, in good health and find the resources and support that they need.

We encourage all evacuees to reach out to our RPCV community, particularly regional groups in the US and the National Peace Corps Association for resources to help you during this difficult and abrupt transition. It is in trying times like these that we need each other most and the Peace Corps community is rallying!

For resources in finding jobs and re-entry support, we recommend the following resources:

- NPCA Affiliate Group Directory or a Google Doc of regional groups with contact info & social media handles (active public document under development)

Additionally, in the past few days many resources have popped up on Facebook and elsewhere. If you need help with - or can provide! - housing in which to self-quarantine, help with getting adopted pets home, leads on jobs, etc., explore these groups and pages:

- U.S. Peace Corps COVID-18 Evacuation Support Group - moderated Facebook group dedicated to connecting evacuees with people who can offer help or support - There's an email set up to help PCVs trying to get pets home: help4PCVpets@gmail.com

We will post these resources and others that might come up on our Facebook page, so please check there for updates.

We hope you all are staying safe, healthy, and supporting your family, friends and community as much as you can!

With RPCV love & support, Your Peace Corps Panama Friends board
